announce they are police and tie up the people inside. the latest was overnight in federal hill. this is days after a sim layer situation in northeast baltimore. cheryl conserve following the investigation. cheryl. >> reporter: yes, there's two incidents that happened about five miles apart. but the details are similar so police are looking into a possible connection. real police detectives not impostors are talking to people in the 1600 block of elkins lane in federal hill. around 3:45 this morning, a man and woman got a rude awakening, three men claiming to be officers were inside their home. >> it makes me question on what -- who to answer and believe. >> reporter: police say the two people inside had no time to respond. they were sleeping when they heard a loud noise downstairs. >> three men all identified themselves as baltimore city police officers. the victims were then tied up and individuals went through

their home. >> reporter: the victims were not injured but the suspects got away with at least a cell phone. police are not saying how they got inside if the front door was locked, but there are scuff marks and the alarm sign didn't stop them. men who answered the door didn't want to talk. >> i live around here all my life and it's never been like this. it has gotten worse. >> reporter: and police have not tracked down who's behind a similar incident in northeast baltimore monday morning. one man was shot in his home on medford road after police say three men posing as officers entered a home and restrained two people. the victim was treated and released. those living around the incidents are taking every precaution they can making sure their doors are locked and not going out at night alone. >> if it's late at night, hopefully he will come walk me home with the dogs. >> we do feel safe in the neighborhood, but, we realize there's some crime in major cities you spec crime. >> reporter: tonight police are

working to track down the suspects. they are not saying if the same three men are involved in both incidents. anyone with information is asked to call city police. cheryl conner, abc2 news. a vil inning for a woman and her daughter killed in a towson apartment. friends and family gathered on joppa road to remember alicia avery and her 4-year-old daughter. the bodies were found in the apartment at the, tended stay hotel. family members says avery was kind and put family first and her daughter, hire her little girl was an angel. >> it's really hard for us right now because i am never going to have a chance to say bye to my daughter properly. i have to look at pictures and i am not, you know, get truing this right now. but i am -- through this right now but i am holding on because i got a lot of love. a lot of love. >> police say avery's boyfriend brian lamont eggleston killed them and faces two counts of murder but could be charged with a third because avery was

reportedly preg nance with eggleston's child. police are trying to find out who owned a begun that got into the hands of a a 5-year- old boy who shot his 4-year-old playmate at playground in prince george's county yesterday. police say they were called to the apartment at hillcrest heights where they found the 4- year-old shot in the back. the mother of the 5-year-old shooter says her son found the gun on the playground and didn't -- and the gun didn't come from her house. she says her son thought it was a cap gun. the #-year-old was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive -- 4-year-old was taken to the hospital and is expected to be survive. be smart and stay safe on water. maryland waterways have been dangerous this year. 13 people drowned in boating incidents and that's more than all of last year. with the big 4th of july weekend getting started, law enforcement and the u.s. coast guard will be out on waterways to help keep you safech the coast guard is urging boaters of all ages to wear life jackets, monitor weather all

from east baltimore who is fighting to win the first ever gold medal in olympic women's boxing. she took a big step towards that goal by winning the united states national championship at a tournament out in colorado. christian schaeffer caught up with her this evening. >> reporter: no time for her to safer her victory. she is back here in baltimore working two jobs to try to make ends meet but her focus remains on next summer's olympic games in london a. she has her mind on another medal, one that will be given out in london next summer but the medal showing she is the woman's u.s. bockings -- boxing champion is not bat. >> it -- bad. >> it shows i am the best. i hate saying that because i am humble but i am the best right now. >> reporter: she won it at national tournament in colorado. she won 15 to 13 decision. >> she was fast but i know when the pressure is on i know how to adapt and rise to the

the monday iew. 16 people were rescued after the elevator was stuck 500 feet above the ground. rescue workers brought the elevator to the ground floor but about two dozen people at the top of the monument had to walk down. no one was injured. we have been investigating elevators and escalators and their inspecs. check out everything we found out on the website at abc2news.com/elevators. well, graphic images of rotting teeth and diseased lungs may be working. labels have not been put on cigarettes yet but hit the media last week causing a major spike in the number of people calling the national stop smoking line. more than 4800 people called the number the day the pictures hit the media. the labels will appear on packs next year along with the 1-800 quit-now phone number replacing the old surgeon general's warning. does your pit bull go crazy when there's a thunderstorm or loud noise? how about get agnew set of

basically a device that says where you are, within a few feet, at any given time all the time. if you look at the history of the phone, it's basically the geographic history of your life. >> reporter: even without a smart phone tracking my movements, i will have to be careful online. even with simple things like internet searchs since many search engines keep records of everything i type into that little box. the same goes for online shopping. that's where you leave a lot of digital fingerprints if you don't want to do that, go to bricks and mortar shops and do it the old fashioned way. a lot of the online companies are not just selling you a product, they are selling your information. >> any time you shop on line, your information is going into data base that is they can sell. if you look at most sites, privacy policies, they will tell you that they are able to sell the information to select marketers or marketing data bases. that's sort of the reality of

beautiful in the city and humidity actually relatively decent. 63% right now. i think we have got another maybe 12, 18 hours before we start to feel the steam again. first let's show you pictures from around baltimore. clear skies late in the day. nice weather also down in the state capital. beautiful weather here. and you know another spot that was beautiful was just north of us up in hershey, pennsylvania. i think we have the video i went up to hershey today. there i am on the comet and i got to ride a couple roller coasters up there. it was a great fair and eventually you will see the different coasters here, but man, i will tell you, it was good time up there. the trees are just a little greener. you see the hair is spiked up. this is great fairch the second coaster is more aggressive. and again, a cool deal. this is the one where your legs hang and you will get whipped around really significantly on

this particular coaster. good times, again, hershey parkopened all 4th of july weekend and the fireworks are up there tomorrow night too. i highly recommend this. this roller coaster, the most extreme one i rode, this thing called weather -- i am story storm runner. look at that. yeah. 75 -- rosie 0 to 57 miles per hour on that thing -- 75 miles per hour on that thingthing. >> very fast. >> if you are wondering what to do, hershey could be an option. maryland's most powerful radar is all clear. dry tomorrow and tomorrow night i think probably most of sun. sunday afternoon and evening we could see a round of showers of storms. temperatures around 70 across the state. humidity 66% now in annapolis. again, it's comfortable humidity wise. and we get another half a day or so of that, tomorrow night humidity will creep back up. where is the steamy stuff now? it's well south of us. we have got high pressure centered on top of maryland so we are still in the mild dry --
